Quanloop is building and running a security-sensitive investment platform. We are looking for a Senior QA Engineer (Manual) in Budapest who can understand the business logic behind what we build, work with Product and Engineering from the beginning of development, and validate solutions against both business intent and real user needs.

This is a senior individual contributor role with no people management responsibility.

This is an office-first role based in Budapest.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

• Get involved early in product development, working with Product and Engineering from the initial business idea through implementation and release.
• Understand the business logic, purpose, and expected outcome behind features and workflows.
• Validate delivered solutions against the original business intent, not only written requirements or acceptance criteria.
• Apply a business analysis mindset to identify gaps, inconsistencies, unclear assumptions, and missing scenarios before they become implementation or release problems.
• Design and execute risk-based manual testing across features and complete business workflows.
• Evaluate features from the perspective of their actual users, including investors and operational users such as KYC operators.
• Validate that UI behaviour and workflows support real user and operational needs, not simply that individual functions work as specified.
• Independently identify missing scenarios, dependencies, edge cases, failure conditions, and quality risks.
• Run exploratory, integration, end-to-end, regression, and release validation with strong attention to business impact.
• Investigate issues beyond the UI when needed, using APIs, logs, data, and other available technical evidence.
• Report defects clearly and work closely with engineers through investigation, resolution, and retesting.
• Use AI-assisted testing where it adds value, including requirement analysis, test scenario and edge-case discovery, exploratory testing, and defect analysis, while independently validating its output.
• Communicate testing confidence, unresolved issues, and remaining risks clearly to Product, Engineering, and other stakeholders.
• Maintain clear, practical, and structured test documentation, traceability, and appropriate testing evidence in a regulated environment.

What Success Looks Like in the First 3–6 Months

• You understand the key business flows well enough to identify risks and missing scenarios beyond the written requirements.
• QA is involved earlier in product development, with requirement, quality, and usability issues identified before they become release problems.
• Testing reflects how investors and operational users actually use the platform, not only how requirements describe it.
• Defects and quality risks are identified clearly, prioritised by business impact, and followed through to resolution.
• Release validation becomes more predictable, with clear communication of what has been tested and what risks remain.

What We’re Looking For

• Deep senior-level experience in manual QA for production software.
• Strong ability to understand complex business logic and business processes, not only technical requirements.
• Strong business analysis mindset: ability to understand the business problem behind requirements, identify gaps and inconsistencies, ask the right questions, and translate business intent into meaningful test scenarios.
• Proven experience working with Product and Engineering throughout the development lifecycle, including before implementation begins.
• Strong exploratory and risk-based testing skills and the ability to design test scenarios independently.
• Strong experience with integration, end-to-end, regression, and release testing.
• Strong technical QA fundamentals, including practical experience with APIs, logs, databases, and testing across integrated or service-based systems.
• Strong end-user mindset and the ability to assess whether a solution actually addresses the needs of the people using it.
• Practical experience using AI tools as part of modern QA work, combined with the judgement to validate their output and understand where AI should — and should not — be relied upon.
• Ability to challenge requirements, assumptions, and release readiness constructively, and to influence Product, Engineering, and other stakeholders without formal authority.
• Strong stakeholder communication and expectation-management skills.
• Clear written and spoken communication in English.
• Experience testing mobile applications and mobile user journeys across iOS and Android is an advantage.
• Fintech, financial services, or another regulated/high-scrutiny environment experience is an advantage.

What This Role Is Not

This is not a people management role and it is not a test automation position.

It is also not a role where completed features are simply handed over to QA for validation against predefined test cases.

We are looking for someone who can independently ask:

Why are we building this? What does the business actually need? Does what we built solve that problem? Does it work for the people who actually use it? What have we not considered? What can go wrong, and what risk remains if we release it?
