Observability Engineer

Apply

Quanloop is building and running a security-sensitive investment platform. We are hiring an Observability Engineer in Budapest to strengthen monitoring, logging, tracing, and operational visibility across our production environment.

This role sits within the Infrastructure Unit and focuses on improving how systems are observed, understood, and supported in practice. You will work closely with the Head of Infrastructure, Site Reliability Engineer, Cloud Platform Engineer, DevOps Engineer, and Security colleagues to ensure production services generate useful operational signals and that issues can be detected and investigated in a timely and practical way.

Role snapshot

  • Working model: Office-first (on-site).
  • Hiring basis: Local hiring for the Budapest office location.
  • Language: English-first working language.
  • Reporting line: You report to the Head of Infrastructure.
  • Operational support: Occasional after-hours support may be required where monitoring or production visibility issues need follow-up.

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Build, maintain, and improve observability capabilities across the production environment, including monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting.
  • Help ensure production systems expose meaningful operational signals that support issue detection, diagnosis, and follow-up.
  • Work with Infrastructure and Engineering teams to improve telemetry quality, alert usefulness, and visibility into service behaviour.
  • Support the design and maintenance of dashboards, alerts, and operational views that reflect actual production needs.
  • Help reduce noise, weak signals, and avoidable alert fatigue by improving monitoring structure and signal quality.
  • Partner with the Site Reliability Engineer on incident follow-up and improvements to operational visibility after production issues.
  • Work with Security colleagues where auditability, event visibility, or operational logging requirements overlap.
  • Maintain clear documentation around observability standards, alerting logic, data sources, and operational usage.

What success looks like in the first 3–6 months

  • Monitoring and alerting become more useful, with fewer weak or distracting signals.
  • Production issues are easier to detect, investigate, and explain because telemetry is clearer and more consistent.
  • Dashboards and operational views better reflect how services actually behave in production.
  • Infrastructure and Engineering teams have more confidence in the quality of logs, metrics, traces, and alerts available to them.
  • Observability work becomes more structured and less reactive.

What we’re looking for

  • Strong experience in observability, monitoring, production operations, or infrastructure-focused engineering roles.
  • Hands-on experience with logging, metrics, tracing, dashboards, and alerting in cloud or distributed environments.
  • Good understanding of what makes operational telemetry genuinely useful in production, rather than just technically available.
  • Comfortable working across engineering and infrastructure teams to improve visibility without creating unnecessary complexity.
  • Able to identify weak monitoring patterns and improve them in a practical, supportable way.
  • Clear written and spoken English, including the ability to document operational logic and monitoring practices clearly.
  • Comfortable working on site as part of an office-first team.
